John Magnay graduated
in agriculture (Bsc Agric Management University of London 1974-77). With 28
years experience in the agro-industrial sector in Uganda. He was the founder of Magric Uganda Ltd in 1979
and has been involved in supporting the agricultural and agro-industrial
sector with design, supply and installation of processing equipment to a wide
range of end-users. In 1984, he pioneered introduction of Solar Power to
Uganda. As an initiator of the Uganda Grain Traders Ltd, he has been
responsible for developing the Nakawa Complex warehouse and processing centre
to handle up to 30,000mt of grains and pulses. This includes providing
training to farmers and processors and establishing out-grower schemes for
barley, soya and maize.
Since 2002 he
has consulted to regional markets on agro-industrial projects in Rwanda and Madagascar.
